February 20, 2011 - Sophomore Sara D'Iorio at Bergen Academies spearheads the first-ever Go4theGoal club...rolling it out nationally in the Spring of 2011. Their main areas of focus are: awareness, fundraising, and most importantly helping Go4theGoal create a National Dress Down Day 4 Pediatric Cancer, slated for September 27th!

Last year when Blake Buffa was diagnosed with cancer Sara was inspired. "This 9 year old never had a frown on her face, despite all the pain and suffering she experienced! She was the inspiration for starting this morning club. Whenever Blake was able and feeling well, she always wanted to go to school...her love for learning and seeing her friends motivated her. Blake's strength and hope through these hard times are truly admirable and inspiring. Our goal is to start a nation wide club known as the G4G Champions, in which students come together to work towards the common goal of giving hope to children like Blake, a healthier tomorrow.

The club was started by Sara D'Iorio, a sophomore at Bergen County Academies. The club at BCA is currently having t-shirt and wristband sales, and are gearing up for their kick-off in March, in which all of the students involved will begin contacting a local high school to get them on board with the team of G4G Champions. By April, they are hoping to have many contacts to begin getting the teams going with both raising awareness and fundraising. The ultimate goal of uniting all kids across this nation in a one day event..."One day, one dollar, one goal...curing pediatric cancer!"

Bergen County Academies is located in Hackensack, New Jersey, and is a magnet public high school that serves the high school population of Bergen County. The school tests and interviews students before accepting them, but is considered a public high school since it is funded by the state. The students take all honors level courses, and are very dedicated to their work. There are kids from every town in Bergen County in the school, which aids in the spreading of the club.
